A man has been arrested for allegedly abducting a child from a south-east Queensland shopping centre and sexually assaulting her.

Queensland police confirmed they charged the man, who allegedly took the young girl from Kmart at the Westfield North Lakes shopping centre and sexually assaulted her in nearby bushland before returning her to the shops.

He is expected to face Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
