MUMBAI: The kin of a patient assaulted a doctor at the civic-run Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli on Tuesday over alleged delay in initiating treatment. The Kandivli police registered a case against the accused, Rahul Singh, and arrested him in the evening.
According to the police, Rahul had accompanied an elderly relative, Jarawati Singh, to the hospital. Jarawati, who is paralytic, complained of a rise in blood pressure. Doctors at the hospital said she was administered an injection and treatment had begun. However, her relatives alleged otherwise.
Around 4.45pm, Rahul had an argument with medical officer Dr Umesh Waghmare in the latter’s office and allegedly assaulted him.
Rahul was hauled to the police station and booked under Section 353 of the IPC (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty).
