Eskom says there is no load shedding scheduled for Tuesday, but there is still a high risk because the system remains vulnerable.

Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe tweeted on Tuesday morning that the decision may be reviewed if the grid becomes constrained due to plant break downs.

"The electricity system remains tight and the risk of load shedding still remains high for today should power station units fail to return as planned," Eskom said in a statement.

The power utility asked consumers to use electricity sparingly. "Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand," the statement read.
