Many Coles customers have been left scrambling to get their festive feasts ready as the supermarket chain closed its pre-orders two weeks before Christmas Day.

The supermarket giant spread confusion rather than cheer with online advertisements showing customers have until December 16 to get their hands on a ham or turkey.

A Sydney woman says her Christmas plans have been threatened to derail after discovering she had run out of time to get her turkey in-store with pre-orders ending December 9.

'It took me by surprise as a big banner on Coles website saying to order by 16 of December in time for Christmas.

'Very disappointed that this year we won't have Coles Turkey as we had so many years.'

'I've been told the matter will be investigated but there's a no guarantee we will have Coles Turkey this Christmas.'

A Coles spokeswoman said while pre-orders closed on Sunday December 9, customers can still place a Coles online order for Christmas, with a two-week delivery window available.

Delivery slots close to Christmas Day book out quickly, so people who want to place an online order should plan to do so early, she advised.
