While Ford has fans kept on their toes with the upcoming 2020 Bronco, a company from Illinois named Gateway Bronco has announced that they are now offering an original Bronco, built from the ground up with license from Ford.

Since 2016, Gateway Bronco has been restoring and restomodding first-gen Broncos but the company now became the first builder officially licensed by Ford to recreate the popular classic off-roader from scratch, Jalopnik reports.

Gateway Bronco has also become the first builder certified from Ford to restore Broncos to the maker’s standards.

The Illinois-based builder is currently offering three types of Bronco models: restored original examples, new bodies on original chassis with VINs and titles, and the aforementioned brand new Broncos built from the ground up with a new frame and body.

Gateway’s agreement with Ford is to build 1966 to 1977 models according to the “Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act of 2015,” which makes its easier for smaller builders to get past safety and emissions rules. Using engines from cars that have already certificates makes this happen.

Gateway Bronco is using Ford’s Coyote V8 engine, offering its customers options like twin turbos, a Shelby supercharger or a Borla fuel injection system. Body panels come from Wild Horse 4×4, with the company then adding “structural enhancements” and applying modern manufacturing methods for the best fitment possible.

Frames are sourced from a subcontractor and can be ordered either as a complete chassis or just the rails, with Gateway able to modify them with an independent suspension setup, if the customer ticks the right option.

Each Bronco coming out of Gateway is accompanied with a warranty as long as five years, along with Ford’s official license. The company’s website currently shows three versions of the Bronco, with prices between $120,000 to $180,000.
