Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has lost in South Champhai seat to TJ Lalnuntluanga of the Mizo National Front.
Former Home Minister R Lalzirliana, who left the Congress recently to join Mizo National Front, has won Tawi constituency. The Mizo National Front has also won Hrangturzo.

The Mizo National Front is leading in 18 seats and the Congress in seven, according to official ECI trends. The ZPM and the BJP are ahead in one seat each.
Hiphei, the former Assembly speaker who quit Congress last month to join the BJP, is at the third spot in Palak.
Ngurdingliana of the Congress is leading in Kolasib.

The Mizo National Front is leading in 11 seats, and the Congress in eight. Official trends from the ECI, however, are available only for three seats – with the MNF ahead in two and the BJP in one.
BD Chakma of BJP is leading in Tuichawng. Chakma was a minister in the Congress government before switching to the BJP.
Lalduhawma, the chief of the Zoram People’s Movement, a collective of seven regional parties, is leading in Scherchip constituency.

Counting is taking place at 13 counting centres in the eight district headquarters.
Counting on amid tight security
Deputy Inspector General (Northern Range) Lalbiakthanga Khiangte had earlier said there would be a three-layer security cordon with eight companies of the Central Armed Police Force, the state armed police and unarmed police personnel during the counting, PTI reports.
The voter turnout in Mizoram was recorded at around 80 percent, against what was 83.41 percent in 2013. The single-phase voting happened after weeks of campaigning by state-level leaders from both sides and national level leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah and Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
