NEW DELHI: Amid a strong selloff in market,
midcaps and
smallcaps were outperforming Sensex in Tuesday's session.
Around 10:25 am, the BSE Midcap index was 0.24 per cent up at 14,481, while the BSE Smallcap index was flat at 13,846. The BSE Sensex was 0.71 per cent down at 34,711 at that time.
DHFL, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, LIC Housing Finance, Adani Power and Shriram Transport Finance were leading among the gainers in the midcap index.
Moschip Semiconductor Technology, Steel Exchange India, Ashima, Morepen Laboratories and Titagarh Wagons were among the top gainers in the smallcap index.
Market sentiment remained negative ahead of the outcome of assembly polls.
Moreover, the sudden resignation of Patel on Monday evening surprised participants and fund managers. Brokers and analysts said the market’s prospects will hinge on investors’ perception about the next governor.
