Pallavi Kumari shines in slogan competition

PATNA: Pallavi Kumari of BA IIIrd year emerged as the winner of a slogan-writing competition organized by the political science department of Patna Women’s College on the occasion of Human Rights Day on Monday. The second and third prizes were bagged by Varsha Rani and Nidhi (both BA-III).
Professor Naina Jha, who was the mentor of the programme, talked about human rights and steps to be taken in case of their violation. She told students about various laws available in the Constitution against sexual harassment of women.
‘Women Rights and Empowerment’ was the theme of the programme.
CNLU: Patna high court’s retired judge Justice Arun Kumar opened a national symposium on ‘Human Rights versus Human Duties and Responsibilities’ at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) on Monday. There were two technical sessions in which various aspects of human rights were discussed.
Justice Arun talked about the historical development of human rights and emphasized on their importance today. He said, “People know their rights well, but they should also fulfil their duties.”
IG (prisons) Mithilesh Mishra threw light on the criminal justice system and it protects human rights.
DMI: Indian American economist Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee delivered a lecture on ‘The Science of Fighting Poverty: Learnings from The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)’ at Development Management Institute-Patna on Monday.
Banerjee asked the students to look at poverty as a multi-dimensional problem which can be solved with a single solution.
CIMP: Chandragupt Institute of Management-Patna (CIMP) faculty member Anuj Sharma participated in an ‘Innovation and Start-up Summit’ organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Embassy of India in Moscow, Economy Ministry of Russia, Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India and Moscow State University, in Moscow on Monday. He talked about future start-ups in Bihar at the event.
Kids Zone: Dance, drama and music marked the eighth annual day function of Kids Zone: A Play School on Monday.
Tiny tots presented a welcome song and brought together different cultures on stage through their dance performances. They also enacted a dance-drama, showcasing the festivals of India like Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas and Makar Sankranti.
School director Anil Kumar and principal Pratima Singh were present on the occasion.
