Hyderabad businessman’s plea in HC

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought the CBI’s response on a plea by Hyderabad-based businessman Sathish Babu Sana seeking to be heard in a case relating to quashing of FIR against Special Director Rakesh Asthana.

Justice Najmi Waziri also called for responses of Mr. Asthana, CBI Director Alok Verma, Joint Director A.K. Sharma and DSP Devender Kumar on the plea seeking to make him a party in the case before the High Court.

The court is seized of Mr. Asthana’s petition seeking quashing of the FIR on bribery allegation.

Additional Solicitor General Vikramjit Banerjee and advocate Rajdipa Behura, representing the CBI, said that in the case Mr. Sana was a complainant and so far no coercive steps were contemplated against him.

The CBI said Mr. Sana was asked to join the probe but he chose not to.

Mr. Sana expressed apprehension that he might be arrested in order to create pressure on him.
