Man threatens girl with acid attack, arrested

According to police, the girl, who is studying in class XII, was returning from school on Monday when the incident happened. As she was passing by the old bus stand, the painter, identified as S Antony Rajesh, a resident of Srinivasapuram, approached the girl and threatened her.
He warned her that if she did not reciprocate his love towards her, he would to throw acid on her face. He even attempted to assault the girl with an iron rod, but onlookers rushed to her rescue and caught hold of Antony Rajesh and handed over him over to the police.
Based on a complaint lodged by the family members of the girl, Thanjavur East police registered a case and arrested him, police sources said.
