LUCKNOW: Terming the sudden resignation of RBI governor Urijit Patel on Tuesday as “extremely shocking”, BSP chief Mayawati said everyone across the board was unhappy with the economic policies of the BJP-led government in the Centre and senior people in various organisations were slowly distancing themselves from it.

Calling the implementation of demonetisation and GST a financial emergency, Mayawati said that people had recognised BJP for its anti-poor and pro-rich policies.

“No organisation agrees with the government’s attempts to benefit its rich, industrialist friends by getting them easy funding from banks. People have realised that demonetisation and GST were anti-poor policies. Patel’s recognition is a befitting reply to the Centre’s arrogance and its wrong policies,” she said.
