LUCKNOW: They came together to be 'Friends with benefits' but are now cooling their heels in jail. The five accused had met online six months ago and formed a WhatsApp group, the "Friends with benefits". Their first planned meet was in Lucknow but things went awry and all are now accused in the murder case.
The facts were revealed after the seizure of Dheeraj Narang's mobile. Police said Narang along with his friends Abhay Singh and Hari Om had uploaded posts on subjects like 'open marriages', 'swinging', and 'swapping partners' on Facebook that was kept open to public. Those liking such posts were then contacted individually to find out if they were interested in such activities. Those interested were added to "Friends with benefits" group. Interaction took place in the group via audio messaging and when urgent WhatsApp calling. The audio messages were deleted once they were heard.
"After intimacy was established, the members fixed up a meeting in Lucknow," said police. Abhay and Hari Om are property dealers while Narang deals in surgical instruments.
"We are probing the modus operandi of the group and also involvement of money if any," said CO Gomtinagar Avnishwar Chand Srivastava.
