NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition that challenged the J&K governor Satya Pal Malik's decision to dissolve the state assembly last month.
The top court said that the petition, filed by former BJP leader, had no merit.
"We are not inclined to interfere (with the decision of the Governor)," a bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice S K Kaul said.
Earlier this month, former BJP MLA Gagan Bhagat had challenged the dissolution of J&K assembly by filing a writ petitiom.
The BJP had played down Bhagat's move, saying the party does not interfere in constitutional institutions and will always maintain the sanctity of the Raj Bhavan.
