Honda HR-V gets 182hp Sport variant

Sportier HR-V gets altered suspension bits and styling tweaks.

Honda has announced that the HR-V will receive a Sport variant early next year in international markets, which will top the model’s range. Visually, the HR-V Sport will come with a gloss-black finish on the honeycomb front grille, door mirrors and fog light surrounds. Dual-exhausts and unique 18-inch alloy wheels will distinguish it from the entry-level model.

The new HR-V Sport will be powered by Honda’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 182hp of power. This engine powers the latest generation of the Civic hatchback in international markets too. The standard HR-V for some markets gets a 1.6-litre diesel engine, which has made its way to India on the new CR-V. The sportier HR-V will also receive a revised suspension and damper setup to improve its handling.

On the inside, the new HR-V sport will also get more supportive seats that are finished in black and red, and a black headlining. The rest of the interior layout will be the same as standard HR-V and the range-topping variant’s equipment list will be carried over.

There has been no word from Honda regarding an India launch of the HR-V. However, Honda is going to bring the new Civic sedan to India next year.
