This Maybach Study Would Take The Firm’s Design To New Heights

Last month, Daimler said that Maybach could eventually start to produce its own vehicles. This concept, created by designer Dahye Jeong from South Korea offers an interesting take on what a future bespoke Maybach model could look like.

Dubbed the Maybach Opera and taking inspiration from the sophistication of opera houses around the world, the concept combines remarkably sleek exterior surfaces with radical design elements never before seen from Daimler.

Dominating the nose of the Maybach Opera is an elongated hood that seems to stretch into eternity. Seamlessly incorporated into the hood are six individual streaks of light on each side that stretch over the hood and front wheel arches in place of traditional headlights. It makes for a very interesting look. Another noteworthy feature of the front fascia is that there’s no traditional front grille and instead just a pair of curvy air intakes.

Curiously, the concept makes do without any doors. Instead, the entire glass roof canopy simply lifts off the bodywork, allowing occupants to enter and exit through an opening at the roof, similar to a luxury boat. Complementing the intriguing canopy design are taillight streaks similar to those that act as headlights.

While speaking about the possibility of Maybach once again building its own vehicles, Daimler chief Dieter Zetsche didn’t offer any specifics as to what kind of vehicles we can expect. However, two likely candidates for future Maybach models are the Vision Maybach Ultimate Luxury crossover and Vision Maybach 6 coupe and cabriolet. A vehicle as bold as this concept is highly unlikely.
