A superstitious man has proved persistence pays off after he claimed one of three winning division-one lottery prizes over the weekend.
The father-of-three, from Gosnells, south east of Perth, was one of three winners to pocket $439,800 on Saturday, after he drove more than 20km to buy the ticket.
The man convinced his reluctant wife to make the journey to Cockburn Gateway Shopping City, in Success, after he read about the suburb's winning streak.

'My wife wasn't too keen on the idea saying I was a bit mad to believe in these things,' the man told Lotterywest.
'In fact, the first week she refused, but the following week I convinced her to take a chance.'
But when the couple arrived at the shopping centre, the man found there were two locations to purchase lottery tickets - so he bought one from each.
While he knew the shopping centre had a reputation as being one of the luckiest in the state, he couldn't determine which of the two stores was the 'luckiest'.
'I remembered one had three wins and the other had one win, but it was a bit confusing which was which.
'So I bought a ticket from each, which really got my wife going!
'But now that it's turned out the way it did, we can't stop laughing about it.'

The man purchased the winning ticket from Cockburn Gateway Lottery Centre, which has now produced two division one wins.
The man's success is the fifth major win for the same shopping centre, with Gateways News & Lottery Centre also producing three division one wins.
Collectively, the five wins have delivered more than $5million worth of prize money to lucky Western Australians.
The superstitious father praised the shopping centre's good fortune, saying he is looking forward to finally buying a home and entering the property market.
'It's life changing to finally have something of our own and not have to rely on a landlord to look after the property,' he said.
