Maharashtra: Civic employee on poll duty dies in Ahmednagar

MUMBAI: A civic employee on Sunday died while on poll duty for the Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation elections, police said.
Ashok Suryavanshi, an employee with AMC's Public Works department, was on poll duty at a booth in Tofkhana area, an official said.
"He felt unease in the morning and lay down to rest. When others at the polling centre approached him sometime later, he had gone cold. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," the official informed.
The official said a case of accidental death had been registered at Tofkhana police station, adding that police were waiting for the post mortem report.
Polls to the 70-member Dhule and 68-member Ahmednagar civic corporations is being held on Sunday.
