Fruit seller hit with brick for not serving 2 in cars, critical
Sanjay Yadav | TNN | Dec 9, 2018, 07:19 ISTGurgaon: A cigarette and fruit seller working out of a small kiosk at Chandu Chowk on Gurgaon-Farrukhnagar Road was beaten up and left severely injured by two customers who arrived in separate cars after he refused to serve them in their vehicles on Friday night. Sajjan Yadav, a 45-year-old resident of Chandu village, is battling for his life at Medanta.
According to police, they have identified the accused and also recovered a live cartridge from the spot. No firing was, however, reported.
Around 9.30pm on Friday, the accused drove their cars up to Yadav’s kiosk and asked him to approach them to pass a water bottle and cigarettes. Yadav, however, refused to leave his shop and asked them to step out. Enraged, the accused got out of their cars and started thrashing him. They hit him on the head with a brick, leaving him bleeding. Yadav was rushed to hospital by locals. He is in the ICU and not fit to give a statement, according to police.
Yadav’s nephew, who runs a shop on the opposite side of the road, told police that the accused were drinking in their cars — a Creta and a Scorpio. “Two cars rolled up in front of his shop and uncle was asked to hand over a water bottle and cigarettes. He asked them to get out of their cars and take the same. Two men stepped out and started thrashing him. I tried to intervene but was pushed away. Then they took a brick and hit uncle on his head before fleeing,” said Manmohan, Sajjan’s nephew.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections 148 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), 307 (murder attempt) of IPC and sections 25-54-59 of the arms Act at the Rajendra park police station. Police said that the two suspects were identified as Sunil alias Tota and Manish. “We are conducting raids to nab the suspects but Yadav is not fit for a statement yet,” said inspector Shailender Kumar, the SHO of Rajendra park police station.
