Smriti Mandhana who began the Rebel's Women’s Big Bash League with a second-ball duck on Saturday, scored a match-winning 69 for Hobart Hurricanes against Melbourne Stars on Sunday.

Mandhana added 98 runs for the second wicket with Hayley Mathews (42) and their partnership was instrumental in setting up the platform for the Hurricanes. Mandhana registered the third fastest fifty in the league as Hurricanes posted 196 for 6 on board. Stars in reply were bowled out for 124.





It was the highest ever total posted by Hurricanes, also the highest for this year's edition.

In reply, Stars lost Lizelle Lee early and it set the tone for the Hurricanes to dominate the proceedings. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals with Angela Reaks being the lone fighter, scoring 31.

Heather Knight was the pick of the bowlers for Hurricanes finishing with 3 for 10 as Stars got bowled out for 124 in 16.5 overs.





Mandhana was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant inning which set up the 72-run win for Hobart Hurricanes.
