The world's oldest living wild bird is set to give birth and the internet cannot hold their horses. Wisdom, a Layasan albatross is at least 68-years and she was recently spotted along with her long time lover and biologists in the US have confirmed that she has laid an egg.

According to announcements made by the US Fish and Wildlife Service Pacific Region, the albatross recently returned to her traditional nesting site at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and is likely to have mated with her old boyfriend Akeakamai. Wisdom was declared an 'adult' in 1958 and has been raising chicks since then. According to biologists studying her, she has laid 36 eggs before and this is the 37th time she is pregnant.

According to biologists, the fact that Wisdom comes back to the same nesting site is due a behaviour referred to as "nesting fidelity". It is important to preserve sites such as these to maintain future generations of these wandering bird species.

Twitterati reacted with joy and humour at this amazing avian feat.
