The agency said it was conducting the probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in certain cases relating to the ownership of undisclosed assets abroad. As part of these investigations, the Directorate conducted searches at several places.

“These searches have been carried out as per the prescribed procedure. Documents and digital evidence seized during these searches are being examined,” said the ED in a statement.

On Saturday, the agency also questioned one Jagdish Sharma, who was picked up from his residence and taken to 48 Dharam Marg in Delhi’s diplomatic area of Chanakyapuri, which is the office of Bharti Sangam, an NGO. While being taken away, he told the media that Mr. Vadra was being framed. The Directorate is learnt to have seized some property-related documents

The Directorate had initiated the operation on Friday in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) and Bengaluru, against three persons. They were quizzed by the ED to determine the purpose of acquisition of properties overseas.
