Man who faked death to get claim inspired by TV show

MOHALI: The accused who faked his death to get insurance claim was inspired from a TV show. Police said the nephew of the accused had watched this show on TV few months ago and made the plan with his uncle.
Nahan police on Wednesday arrested a resident of Baltana for faking his death and killing a labourer to get insurance claim. Akash, 47, a property dealer, along with his nephew, identified as Ravi Kumar have been arrested. The duo plied the victim with alcohol, put his body in a car, poured oil and set it afire, said police. ASP, Virender Thakur, said, "During the interrogation the accused revealed that they watched an episode of TV show named 'Savdhan India' and got the idea to fake Akash's death to get insurance claim."
On November 20, a man was found burnt in his car on Poanta road in Nahan. It was believed that Akash lost control over the car and it caught fire.
