KANNUR: The number of accused people in the Pappinissery gangrape case rose to 16 with the arrest of three more persons, police said on Friday. While Valappattanam police arrested Bhavin T and Akshay K T on Friday, Kodiyanmala police arrested Abdul Samad late on Thursday. All three are in their early 20s. Though the 16-year-old survivor had named a few more people, police were suspecting that some of them might have fled the country. The girl's father and a DYFI leader were among those arrested on Thursday.

The survivor reportedly told the police that she went to the lodge to meet a woman, Anjana, who she had met on Facebook. Investigation revealed Anjana was a fake ID created by one of the accused. After the gangrape case was reported, the girl told about a friend who too had been abused. Police have already arrested one man in that case.
