NEW DELHI: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi raised questions about the handling of electronic voting machines during the state elections, saying they were found unaccounted for long hours in MP and Chhattisgarh after the voting ended.

The comment came as a caution to party workers in Telangana and Rajasthan which voted on Friday.

“Congress party workers, be vigilant after polls close today (Friday). In MP, EVMs behaved strangely after polling: Some stole a van (carrying EVMs) and vanished for 2 days! Others slipped away & were found drinking in a hotel. In Modi’s India, the EVMs have mysterious powers. Stay alert!”, Rahul tweeted.

The issue of voting machines has exercised the principal opposition party during the recent state polls, with its leaders from Chhattisgarh and MP petitioning the Election Commission on more than one occasion.
