Chandigarh: The Punjab health department, which is struggling with the shortage of specialized doctors, got a boost with 215 doctors joining the department.The specialized doctors who joined includ 40 anaesthesia, 23 of paediatricians, 12 dermatologists, 20 orthopaedics, 14 pathologists, 14 ENT specialists, 20 psychologists, 23 surgeons, 21 medicine, 10 gynaecologists, 2 radiologists and 8 eye specialists.
Director health services Dr Jaspal Kaur said that strength of the health department has been enhanced manifold with the recruitment of biggest lot of specialist and general practitioners. She said that the government has recruited record number of staff nurses, multipurpose health workers and class four employees.
