Shows cancelled due to technical glitches

Thiruvananthapuram: Projection failure due to technical glitches led to cancellation of three shows on the second day of the 23rd edition of International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Saturday. The screenings at 2.30pm, 6pm and 8.30pm at Tagore Theatre were cancelled after the power switcher of the 2k projector was damaged.
Organizers of the festival were forced to get a projector on rent as the damaged one could be repaired by the next day only. ‘The Bed’ was being screened when the show was disrupted.

Meanwhile, the non-reservation coupon facility introduced was withdrawn. The coupons were made available at the respective theatres two hours before each screening, for seats other than the reserved ones.

“The facility was rolled up due to some technical issues,” said Mahesh Panju, secretary of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the chief organizer of the event.

A total of 63 films will be screened on the third day of the festival under various categories. Six films in international competition, including Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Ee.Ma.Yau’ which will have the first of its three screenings at the fest, will be screened. Monica Lairana’s ‘The Bed’, Mostafa Sayari’s ‘The Graveless’, Tashi Gyeltshen’s ‘The Red Phallus’, Luis Ortega’s ‘El Angel’ and Temirbek Birnazarov’s ‘Night Accident’ are films in the competition section.

Eighteen films under the world cinema category, including ‘Jumpman’ and ‘Midnight Runner’, will have their last screenings at the fest on day three. Kim Ki-duk’s ‘Human Space, Time, and Human’, and Lars von Trier’s ‘The House That Jack Built’ will be screened at Nishagandhi.
