Transgender, aide rob man near Pune station

PUNE: The Bund Garden police on Thursday registered an offence against a transgender and a woman accomplice for robbing a man of Rs1,000 outside Pune railway station in the early hours of Thursday.

Vikas Dekate (37), a resident of Vardha district, lodged a complaint with police.


Assistant inspector of Bund Garden Police Sandip Jamdade said that around 4.30am on Thursday, when the complainant was walking near the railway station, a transgender and a woman blocked his way.


The duo started threatening Dekate and told him to give them money. “The transgender person then snatched Dekate’s wallet containing Rs 1,000 and fled,” Jamdade said.


In another incident, three unidentified youths robbed an 18-year-old labourer of cash and cellphone, collectively worth Rs8,500, on Thursday night. A complaint was lodged with the Nigdi Police Station by Prem Marawadi.
