Kia Announces e-Niro First Edition UK Specs, Pricing Starts At £32,995

Kia will launch the e-Niro in the United Kingdom on April 1, 2019, but they have already announced the pricing of the ‘First Edition’.

Available from £32,994 ($42,067/€37,035) after the government grant, this flavor of the electric crossover is equipped with a 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack.

Mounted low down in the body for a lower center of gravity, it powers a 201 PS (198 hp / 148 kW) and 395 Nm (291 lb-ft) electric motor that enables the e-Niro to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 7.5 seconds (0-62mph/0-100km/h in 7.8 sec).

In the WLTP cycle, the Korean automaker claims that the e-Niro can travel for more than 282 miles (455 km) on a single charge when equipped with the 64 kWh battery, which can be recharged up to 80 percent in 54 minutes using a 100 kW fast charger.

There’s also a 39.2 kWh battery in store, which gives the vehicle a 179 miles (289 km) driving range. Nevertheless, this isn’t available the UK market, for now at least, as it will probably launch there in the first half of next year powering the entry-level model.

Standard features of the 2019 e-Niro First Edition are the LED DRLs and taillights, front fog lights, halogen headlights with bi-function projection, rear privacy glass, roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Convenience features include reversing camera, rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless-entry and go, rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing headlights, climate control, and heated and power folding side mirrors. Black leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, as well as special interior trim, are all offered at no extra cost.

Finally, the Kia e-Niro’s equipment includes Vehicle Stability Management, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Hill-Start Assist, Driver Attention Warning, adaptive cruise control and Emergency Stop Signaling.
