BJP lists 35 star campaigners for Jasdan bypoll

Rajkot: The BJP on Saturday submitted list of its star campaigner to the Election Commission for Jasdan bypoll to be held on December 20. BJP has listed 35 star campaigner, including leaders like Smriti Irani, Paresh Raval and Naresh Kanodia, who will campaign for Kunvarji Bavalia.
Bavalia, a five time MLA from Jasdan on Congress ticket, had joined BJP soon after assembly polls in December last year. Congress has fielded Bavalia’s former aide Avsar Nakia.
There are 2.32 lakh voters with majority of them belonging to Koli community. Both Bavalia and Nakia are from THE Koli community. The second majority voters are from Patidar community.
BJP’s star campaigners are expected to campaign for Bavalia over the next 10 days. Congress, meanwhile, is yet to submit its list of star campaigners to the Election Commission.
Congress Rajkot district president Hitesh Vora said, “We do not believe in giving lectures. We believe in reality and voters will vote for Congress’s ideology. People from villages hardly travel in local trains and this star campaigners show them development by giving example of Ahmedabad’s metro train.”
