I read with interest the Herald News article detailing how Gen Andrade earned the “stipend” of $10,000 while drawing her $80,000 salary for basically doing the job for which she signed on. I’ll just assume that his honor, Jasiel Correia II, was otherwise engaged, perhaps in San Diego, Paris, or Bridgewater, anywhere other than our city, no doubt discussing city business while enjoying a relaxing lap dance, or maybe working on a trade-in for his pre-owned Mercedes, maybe a used Rolls? As we are all now painfully aware, a man of Correia's prominence should not be seen in a used Ford, Chevy or Toyota, like the majority of us (unwashed) lowly Fall River taxpayers. In the interest of full disclosure, I also own a four-year-old Mercedes, paid for by none other than my wife and me, not my friends or “investors.”
As I understood the breakdown, this money came out of his honor's salary account and is not part of the $109,000 already budgeted for this purpose. Does that mean he forfeits part of his salary so she can do his job? Does this also constitute another “stipend” for money guru, Mary Sahady, so that she can complete the “analysis” on just how much we saved? Addition by subtraction, hmmm, I guess I’ll go back to night school to learn how to do that kind of math. I can only imagine that having worked on this analysis since last March should qualify for some sort of extra compensation. Does anybody on the sixth floor have even the slightest clue that, in our city of dwindling population, with an average yearly income of less than $40,000, their personal piggy bank will eventually run dry?
Mr. Mayor, et al, we live in New England, and it snows here! Now that we’re gearing up for another winter, why only now are we hearing about this? I’ve got a deal for you all: For only $5,000, I’ll put a plow blade on the front of my 18-year-old pickup and I’ll go plow around city hall so that all your partners can park while they burn the midnight oil directing the various private vendors, as well as those city DCM employees. You know, the ones who really do work 24/7 during these emergencies.
