Victoria Bushfires LIVE: Homes evacuated as fast moving grass fire threatens Little River

Fire being treated as suspicious

CFA Little River incident controller Geoff McGill said the fire is 60 hectares in size.

The CFA have 50 fire trucks at the scene, 220 firefighters and several large air tankers attempting to put out the blaze.

"The initial information we received is possibly there is three locations where the fire started and we are organising for investigators to go out and investigate formally," he said.

"The crews have done some good initial observations of those points of origin and kept them in a position to investigate them... we will be treating them as suspicious, yes."

Around 20 Little River residents have flocked to the centre of town, at the Little River General Store.

"They can’t get home because the roads have been blocked off," said Madde.

VicRoads warns motorists not to travel on Princes Freeway

VicRoads are urging motorists not to travel on the Princes Freeway unless necessary.

"It's impacted by large plumes of smoke, again we ask people to delay non-essential travel, we have a VicRoads crew there waiting in case the freeway needs to be closed, ready to act if that needs to happen," a spokesman said.

CFA confirms sheds have been lost

A CFA spokesman told ABC Melbourne they were still assessing the damage but they believed some sheds had been affected.

"We have some vision of some sheds that are impacted, so not knowing exactly the extent, we have vision of sheds but no sign of any houses... some good work has been done to save some houses," he said.

Locals earlier told us two homes had been lost. It is unclear whether this information is correct.
