DS Automobiles Might Skip The 2019 Geneva Motor Show

Auto shows aren’t what they used to be, as manufacturers find other ways to promote their products. The latest automaker that’s believed to be absent from the 2019 Geneva Motor Show is DS Automobiles – and it probably won’t be the last.

PSA’s luxury brand hasn’t announced anything yet. Quoting undisclosed sources, however, Largus believes that its absence from the show is predictable, given that they allegedly have no major premieres to display.

DS Automobiles did attend the 2018 Paris Auto Show, where they presented the 2019 DS3 Crossback. The small crossover wants to rival the Audi Q2, and plans to do so with a funky styling, lots of gear and a number of petrol and diesel engines to choose from.

There’s also an electric version of the 2019 DS3 Crossback, named the E-Tense, that makes use of an electric motor and a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery. With an output of136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 260 Nm (191 lb-ft) of torque, it sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.7 seconds, while the battery provides a total range of more than 300 km (186 miles) in the WLTP standard.

PSA is apparently still undecided whether it is feasible for Opel to make the trip to Geneva. Nevertheless, visitors will probably see the German brand on display officially, given that they’ll launch the new-gen Corsa and its EV derivative, and the Grandland X plug-in hybrid, in the first half of next year.

Other major absentees from the 2019 Geneva Motor Show will be Jaguar Land Rover, Ford and Volvo.
