M16 Drawing Prize

The winners of the M16 2018 Drawing Prize are Waratah Lahy (The M16 Drawing Prize of $2500 for 5 days at Jigamy Farm), Tony Curran (The Delta Cleaning Services Prize of $500 for Wiggly Grids) and Frances Feasey (The Framing Store, Braddon Prize - $500 framing voucher for Night Watch). The exhibition of their work runs until December 14. M16 Artspace is at 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith, and is open until Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5pm.

Instrument Playground

Over the last three weeks The Griffyn Ensemble have found satellite dishes, PVC pipes, wooden boxes and other objects and transformed them into instruments such as the Ski Bass and the Bicycle Hurdy Gurdy. At Belconnen Arts Centre on Saturday, December 8 at 2pm, these new instruments will be played when the ensemble launches their Giant All-Ages Instrument Playground, performing in concert with their new group, The Circularsawruses. griffynensemble.com.

HeartString

Through donations from Canberra Symphony Orchestra donors, local businesses and the ACT government, the CSO’s HeartStrings program gives free tickets to individuals and families who would love to experience symphonic music but can’t because of financial constraints, social isolation or other hindering factors. Haydn's Farewell

On Thursday December 13 at 7pm at the Albert Hall, Yarralumla, Erin Helyard will be guest director and soloist in the Australian Haydn Ensemble's final 2018 program which features Haydn’s Farewell Symphony, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major and Rondo for piano and orchestra K. 386 as well as J.C. Kestin Indigenous Illustrator Award

Indigenous publisher Magabala Books is offering an Indigenous artist or emerging illustrator the opportunity to illustrate a children’s picture book by multi award-winning author, Bruce Pascoe. Entries are now open for the Kestin Indigenous Illustrator Award. The winner will receive $10,000, a professional mentorship and the opportunity to illustrate Pascoe’s first foray into writing children’s picture books. Applications close on February 28, 2019.
