Pune: Officials of the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) on Friday said that the alternative route of a metro corridor from Bund Garden to Ramwadi will increase the length by 1 km and also the cost of civil work.

After objections were raised by Aga Khan Palace for taking the metro from Aga Khan Palace, officials of the MahaMetro had started looking for alternative routes to reach Ramwadi from Bund Garden. The National Monument Authority in September had turned down the proposal to build the metro near Aga Khan Palace on Ahmednagar Road.

Speaking about the ongoing progress of metro work in the city, the officials of MahaMetro on Friday said that they will start the work of building the proposed two deck flyover at Nal Stop. The flyover is on the Vanaaz-Civil Court of metro. The flyover will start after SNDT Chowk on Karve Road, pass over Nal Stop Chowk and start descending there onwards. The estimated cost of the flyover will be around Rs 50 crore. MahaMetro officials said that they are in touch with the Traffic Police Department and the Pune Municipal Corporation as there will traffic changes at Nal Stop following the start of the work of building the flyover.
