Alleged northern beaches peeping Tom arrested
A 30-year-old man has been arrested following reports of a peeping Tom on Sydney's northern beaches.
A 13-year-old girl noticed a man looking through a window of her home in Collaroy Plateau about 10.45pm last Friday, and she alerted her parents.
They searched the yard and did not find the man. However, a check of the home’s security footage showed a man walking around the property.
The family told police a similar incident happened on the evening of October 4, but did not report it to police at the time.
"[The girl] was half-asleep when this first incident happened and wasn't entirely sure she had seen someone," a police spokesperson said.
A subsequent review of CCTV footage from October 4 revealed someone had been on the property that night.
On Sunday, police released images of a man they believed would be able to assist with inquiries, and appealed for public assistance in identifying him.
Police said that, after members of the public called Crime Stoppers, detectives investigating the alleged peeping Tom incident arrested a 30-year-old man in Dee Why about 10am on Friday.
The man was taken to Dee Why police station and inquiries are continuing.
Police will address the media later on Friday.
