Gurukul administrator, his nephew held for rape

Rajkot: The administrator of Sahjanand Gurukul and his nephew were booked on Thursday night for allegedly gang raping a 22-year-old woman several times in the past two years at Charadawa village of Halvad taluka in Morbi district.
According to the complaint lodged by the survivor, administrator of Sahjanand Gurukul Shastriji Lalit Patel and his nephew Alkesh Patel committed the crime.

“The survivor, who is an orphan, has alleged that Shastriji and Alkesh raped her several times since March 2016 till present date. The survivor contacted the accused seeking admission into a nursing college run by the Gurukul. The accused raped her and repeated the crime by threatening the survivor to defame her. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she approached the police,” inspector of Halvad police station M R Solanki said.

Meanwhile, the police have sent the survivor for medical examination and launched a manhunt for the accused. Shastriji was earlier a saint of Swaminarayan sect. However, he left the sect in 2006 and founded the Gurukul.tnn
