Lucknow University Urdu exam cancelled after students get wrong paper

LUCKNOW: Lucknow University cancelled BA Urdu first semester examination after wrong question paper was distributed to students on Wednesday. Students were taken aback when they were given Urdu prose paper instead of Urdu poetry. Around 150 students had to return without writing the examination.
LU controller of examination AK Sharma blamed the head of Urdu department for the mistake and issued a notice to him.
“First I thought only I had been given the wrong question paper, but then all students in the examination hall pointed it out to the invigilator,” said Amreen Khan. “The cancelled examination will be held on December 12, while the next paper of Urdu prose will be held as per the schedule. As multiple sets of question papers are made, the one distributed will not be used,” said AK Sharma. He said there was a mistake at the time of moderation by Urdu HoD Abbas Raza Nayyar following which the poetry paper got replaced with prose. paper.
He has been served a notice and the matter will be taken up in the next examination committee. Nayyar, however, defended himself and blamed the printing press instead for the confusion.
