Preventive healthcare firm GOQii today announced its entry into the smart health segment, with the launch of new products around preventive cardiac and diabetes.

“This marks our entry into smart health as we see it – preventive health bridging traditional healthcare systems,” said CEO Vishal Gondal.

The two products, GOQii VitalECG and GOQii VitalGluco will allow users to measure their heart rate and blood sugar, and also connect them to specialists with the option of setting up an actual physical consultation if required. A third product, GOQii RunGPS is an activity tracker aimed at the growing runner community, which will provide marathon coaching inputs to runners.

Gondal said that the company is also in the process of working out its entry into Japan on the back of a recent investment in GOQii by Mitsui. “Mitsui has a strong presence in healthcare. We will integrate with that ecosystem and will work on a joint go-to-market strategy for Japan,” he said.

Given that the demographic in Japan is very different compared to India with an ageing population, this would likely require a different set of products than India.

GOQii has set itself a target of getting to 10 million users over the next two years, and to that end the company is also exploring strategic investments or acquisitions to enter the offline space.

The company also announced that it has signed on former India hockey captain Sardar Singh as a coach on its platform. He would provide health and fitness coaching through the company’s live video platform, GoQii Play.
