Accused Hiteshkumar Parikh, who claimed to live in Sherkhi, had come forward as a bail guarantor of a bootlegger Piyush alias Lakhan Bhavsar who was arrested by Gotri police for a case registered in April.
Bhavsar had applied for bail in the sessions court. An additional sessions court released Bhavsar on a bail of Rs 20,000 and with certain conditions. Parikh became the bail guarantor and presented solvency certificate issued by executive magistrate of Vadodara rural on September 28. However, the court became suspicious about the genuineness of the solvency certificate.
The court sent the solvency certificate to the executive magistrate of Vadodara rural to ascertain its genuineness. The executive magistrate later informed the court that the solvency certificate was not issued by him and was forged.
The court then issued notice to Parikh in November to remain present and explanation the forgery. Police said that the notice returned without being served. It then came to light that no person named Hiteshkumar Parikh lives in Sherkhi. The court then ordered that an FIR against Parikh for giving false statement, submitting false evidence, signing false certificate, using false certificate as a true one and forgery.
Last month too, a similar case was registered against one Mansukh Vasava who had presented himself as bail guarantor for Rajeev Kamboj, who was arrested for stealing LED television and other appliances from a restaurant. Vasava too had submitted a forged solvency certificate.
