Indore: BJP vice-president Prabhat Jha said BJP’s claim to win more than 200 seats in assembly elections was just a poll slogan to keep the morale of party activists high. “Such slogans are given so that activists work to achieve it,” he told reporters here on Wednesday. Jha said Congress had given a slogan of poverty eradication in 1978.
“So many years have passed but has the poverty been eradicated till date?” he asked, and said, “No”. To a query, he said increase in vote percentage does not necessarily go against the ruling party. “In 2013 elections, the voting percentage was more than the voting percentage in 2008 elections.
We had increased our seats from 143 in 2008 to 165 in 2013. It was all because of increase in voting percentage. So voting percentage has nothing to do with anti-incumbency,” he said. He claimed that BJP would form government for fourth time. He said Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the chief minister if BJP formed government. “There are no two opinions on that. Even our president Amit Shah announced that,” he said.
