Guirdolim are Salcete zone champs

Guirdolim Club emerged the champions of the Salcete Zone GFA Third Division League following their 2-1 win against St Anthony’s SC, Assolda, at Ambelim ground, on Thursday.

Guirdolim attacked through Edgar Noronha and Melory Moura and soon took the lead in the 12th minute when Edgar ran down the left flank and hit a low shot which brushed an Assolda player that entered the goal.

At the other end, St Anthony SC Assolda equalised in the 20th minute through Carry Vaz.

Finally Edgar Noronha gave Guirdolim Club the match winner in the 36th minute. The score remained 2-1 in favour of Guirdolim Club.

Guirdolim Club and St Anthony SC Assolda — both qualify for the GFA Second Division League.

“I’m pleased with the performance and happy that we remained unbeaten in the league. The boys gave their best throughout the campaign and all credit goes to them,” said the Club president Patwin Fizerdo.
