I'm a great believer that managers with a proven track record deserve the best possible chance to turn a difficult situation into a positive one.

Llandudno FC have shown under-pressure boss Iwan Williams the sort of loyalty he is worthy of in recent weeks.

To say Williams is going through a tough time is a massive understatement. He has somehow managed to put personal difficulties aside in a bid to arrest the alarming slump in the Seasiders' fortunes.

Tudno currently prop up the Welsh Premier and desperately need a win at Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Welsh Cup tomorrow to raise the mood at Maesdu Park.

Williams is trying his heart out to turn the tide, but a mixture of bad luck and the fact perhaps some players have just not been good enough is holding the Seasiders back.

It speaks volumes for the club that they have stuck with their manager and given him maximum opportunity to halt the slide.

Gareth Thomas and his management team were afforded no such luxury at Conwy Borough.

Thomas, along with assistants Alun Winstanley and Sara Hilton, were relieved of their duties this week following a seven-match winless run.

Such was Conwy's fine start to the season, their current position of 10th in the Huws Gray Alliance is not that bad, but the Morfa board felt they could give the current regime no more time to get things back on track.

Given the fact Thomas led Conwy to a treble last season, and an instant return to the HGA, I feel the sackings are rather harsh.

"Perry" has great pedigree at this level and surely merited extra time to stop the rot.

I am confident the departing trio will soon be back on the management wagon. They are too capable not to be.

The turnaround at Y Morfa was swift, with Warren Gibbs taking over following a spell with Glantraeth on the same day Thomas and his team's departure was announced.

Gibbs has plenty of experience at HGA level and should do well.

The new manager said this week: "Conwy is a great club and the set up is excellent. I couldn't turn down the opportunity to manage a team in the Cymru Alliance and I am really looking forward to linking up with the players. I am well aware that its a tough league and it will be a real challenge, but one that I will relish and step up to."
