Over 32 Kg gold seized by Customs at Attari border

In one of the biggest seizures by an Indian agency along the Indo-Pak border in the last 25 years, staff posted at the Integrated Check Post, recovered over 32.65 kilograms, worth approximately Rs 10 crores, of gold from an apple consignment coming from on Thursday.

"An apple consignment was coming from via and was stopped for a check at the Integrated Check Post, We've recovered a total of 32.654 Kilograms of gold, it was concealed in the cavity of the consignment," Dipak Kumar Gupta, the told ANI.

Initial examinations conducted by Staff unearthed two gold bars weighing around 1.2 kg each from the base of a carton containing apples, according to an official press release issued by the of the of Customs in

"Upon 100 percent examination of the whole cargo (total 11 12 cartons), a total of 11 cartons were found to contain 27 Gold Bars with a total cumulative weight of 32.654 Kilogram," the press release stated.

The gold bars, apples, and the truck have been seized under Section 110 of Customs Act 1962.

Further investigations pertaining to the incident are underway.
