LUDHIANA: The MC on Wednesday organised a lucky draw for residents who have cleared their dues through digital payments in the past one month.

The draw was organised in the Zone A office of the MC. The nine winners were awarded with prizes by MC additional commissioner J K Jain.

A statement issued by the MC said the facility had been received well by the public. To encourage city residents, the civic body will continue to organise a monthly draw for all people who pay their bills online or by swiping their debit cards for making payments. To date, more than 40% taxpayers in the city have adopted this mode of transaction and this trend is increasing by each day, said the statement.

Bakshit Gupta won the first prize, Tarsem Singh was second, Rita Agnihotri, Beant Singh and Ashish Chawla won the joint third prize, while Ritesh Kapoor, Shiv Rawat, Des Raj Ghai and Shivangi Rawat won the joint fourth prize.

Jain said the residents did not have to pay any hidden charges or surcharge for making these payments. “To encourage more residents to adopt online modes of payment, digital cards of the City Bus Service are also being made at the bus stand. Soon, these cards would be made at all MC zonal offices,” he said.
