DMK president M.K. Stalin on Monday dismissed as “media creation” reports that his party’s allies were left disgruntled after it was suggested by former Union Minister A. Raja that some of them could contest under the ‘Rising Sun’ symbol in the upcoming general elections.

“It has been created by the media, and There is no discontent among our partners,” he said when asked if the suggestion that unrecognised political parties could opt to contest under the DMK symbol had created the unrest.

Mr. Stalin accused Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami of enacting a drama by visiting local tea stalls while touring cyclone-affected areas. “Our allegation is that the government has not got itself fully involved in the relief work,” he said.

He said the AIADMK government was interested only in completing its tenure and was indulging in “corruption and commission”. “It is not bothered about the demands of the differently-abled people or the government employees’ union. Farmers have also been staging road-rokos and the government remains indifferent to their demands,” he said.
