Couple missing case: Crime branch begins probe
Soumitra Bose | TNN | Dec 5, 2018, 03:03 ISTNagpur: Crime branch has commenced preliminary investigation into the mysterious missing case of Bhaiyyasaheb Dhawad and his wife Vanita. Advocate Bhaiyyasaheb and his wife had been missing since July this year. They were last seen at their apartment at Wanjari Nagar on July 28.
With the probe going nowhere, district bar association (DBA), whose member was Bhaiyyasaheb, had met the city police chief BK Upadhyay and requested to shift the probe to crime branch for a more dedicated approach. Though the official order of the CP is yet to be issued, crime branch has learnt to have already started their ‘homework’ on the case collecting the information.
DCP, crime, Sambhaji Kadam said an officer has been already assigned for the probe. It’s reliably learnt that crime branch officials even visited the apartment at Wanjari Nagar collecting information from the neighbours and have also met some other people in the locality. The crime branch officials had also visited the Ajni police station. The couple’s son Mrunal, who had filed the missing complaint at Ajni police station on August 2, would be soon summoned for a fresh questioning in the case. He has been already questioned at length by senior PI Shailesh Sankhe and Zonal DCP Nilesh Bharne when Ajni police were handling the case solo.
The cops have probed the case from different angles but could make no headway. Mrunal, who was with parents, had been quizzed on numerous occasions too. Police, at present, feel that the couple likely to have met with some unfortunate incident.
It’s learnt that the mobile phones, wallets, ATMs, cash and other belongings of the couple was at home when they got missing. Upon inquiring, police have now found out that the couple had not contacted any of their relatives or friends till date. Police have visited several places where the couple possibly could have gone. It’s also learnt that Mrunal’s wife, married in February this year, had left home a couple of days before the couple went missing.
