CHANDIGARH: The Panjab University dean of instructions, Prof Shankarji Jha, has agreed to the demand of the Panjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) president Kanupriya of segregating lectures condoned by the dean of student welfare (DSW) from those condoned by the chairperson of the department concerned.
Now, 10% lectures condoned by the DSW for participating in cultural festivals will be separate from the 10% lectures condoned by the board of control or chairperson of the department concerned.
The DUI has sent the minutes to the vice-chancellor for his approval.
Moreover, the PUCSC president had also demanded that the criterion of 75% attendance should be for all subjects and not just subject-wise, which the DUI has also agreed to.
As per the minutes approved by the DUI, a student is not required to take prior permission of the chairperson of the department concerned for participating in various activities.
Moreover, a circular was released giving relaxation of 10% attendance to students for participating in the Panjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) fest-'Aaghaz' for the benefit of the students.
A meeting to discuss ban on four-wheelers was also held with the authorities concerned on Monday.
"Several resolutions were taken into consideration during the meeting, including installation of lights on gate no. 3 and gate no. 4. Frequency of the shuttle bus service within the university should be improved and it should be run at three different timings. Cabs will be allowed on the PU campus, but vehicles of students and outsiders will be banned completely for which model guidelines may be adopted similar to the Punjabi University in Patiala," said Kanupriya, PUCSC president.
