Packers Coverage: What's next for Packers after McCarthy's sudden firing

Koloski.

And i'm mike thompson.

A day after firing head coach mike mccarthy... packers president and ceo mark murphy explains his reasons why that decision was made.

Joining us from lambeau field is news 8 sports director gregg wavrunek.

The nfl is results driven and the 4-7-1 packers this season to say it nicely didn't get the job done.

Packers president and ceo mark murphy making it clear that this move to fire mike mccarthy had everything to do with the team's performance and not the outside talk of a fractured relationship between mccarthy and aaron rodgers.

Mm "aaron and mike, they had a great run together.

They won an awful amount of games together including the super bowl and the playoffs that we talked about.

This decision is not about one player, this is what's best for the packers team and packers organization."

Ar "like any relationship s we have our amazing times, and we have our times when we butt heads.

The base was built on mutual respect and communication.

We spent a lot of time here talking, off the field at my house or his house spending time together and growing our friendship.

We accomplished a lot together."

Now for those who felt a super bowl winning coach deserved to at least finish the season... murphy believed making this decision when they did is best for both sides.

Mccarthy can now guage the job market...and the packers can get a head start identifying head coaching candidates.

Reporting from lf, gw, n8 sports.

Thanks gregg!

We'll have more on mccarthy's removal in
