10 wagons of goods train derail near Abu Road station

Palanpur/Ahmedabad: As many as 10 wagons of a goods train carrying cargo containers were derailed near Muthla station between Palanpur and Abu Road railway station on Monday late night.

There were no casualties in the incident and the railway traffic was restored within couple of hours.


The Bandra-Hissar train was diverted following the derailment.


According to railway officials, the derailment took place after cargo container on one of the wagons rolled down derailing one wagon near Muthla station on Monday night. While the railway officials were trying to put the container back on the wagon, 10 other wagons got derailed distrupting the traffic on the route for nearly two hours.


Due to the derailment, trains on the Delhi-Ahmedabad route remained stranded at Abu Raod and Palanpur railway station for couple of hours. The rail traffic returned to normal from Tuesday morning, railway officials said.
