Delhi-based gang behind Gujarat paper leak

AHMEDABAD: Gandhinagar police on Tuesday claimed that a Delhi-based gang was involved in leaking the exam paper for the Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) recruitment. Gandhinagar police arrested four more persons for the scam. The total number of arrests in the case is now eight.
A written exam for the LRD recruitment was cancelled on Sunday, hours before it was scheduled to begin, after the authorities learned that the paper, set by the chairman of the class III police recruitment board additional DGP Vikas Sahay, had been leaked. As many as 8.75 lakh candidates were to take the exam, for 9,700 posts. The exam was to begin at 3pm on Sunday at 2,440 centres across the state.
Gandhinagar superintendent of police Mayur Chavda on Tuesday said that the four arrested persons are Arvalli resident Pritesh Patel, Narendra Chaudhary from Mehsana and Ajaysinh Parmar and Uttamsinh Bhati from Banaskantha. He claimed that the four had gone to Delhi and met members of a gang there.
“A gang which is involved in paper leaks in Delhi and Gurgaon is behind the Gujarat LRD paper leak. This has was revealed during the interrogation of the arrested persons and corroborative evidence. These people got the LRD paper and then offered to sell it to candidates from Gujarat,” Chavda said. Chavda did not divulge more details either on the Delhi-based gang or on how the accused were involved, saying it could hamper the investigation.
Chavda said the four accused were to take the exam on Sunday. Their questioning revealed that a Delhi-based gang was involved in leaking the paper. Chavda claimed that one Yashpal Solanki, whose name had cropped up in the probe on Monday, was also part of the group which went to Delhi. Four people, including two BJP workers and a sub-inspector, were arrested on Monday. The BJP workers, Manhar Patel and Mukesh Chaudhary, were suspended by their party.
